Olivem 1000 is a PEG-free O/W solo emulsifier lamellar liquid. It has excellent anti-ageing and anti-redness properties, and may also be used as a carrier, environmental shield, and SPF maximizer. It is a complex combination of fatty acids, olive-oil derived, chemically similar to the skin surface lipid composition, that has the distinctive property to self-emulsify in hydrophilic or lipophilic milieus. It also has the ability to generate liquid crystal structures that mimic the stratum corneum extracellular lipid matrix tridimensional organization. Liquid crystals, having a “skin-like” fatty acid composition, have a unique double-characteristic: improving skin barrier integrity and promoting delivery through stratum corneum layers. Olivem 1000 thus represents a unique biomimetic restructuring agent endowed with the double feature of first restoring and maintaining the integrity of the skin barrier and then providing itself the emulsifying base. Ultimately, this leads to the creation of cosmetic formulations that are biologically functional with a “physiologically” natural skin feel upon application. It is a O/W solo emulsifier. Used in day and night creams, fight foundations, sun-screen and after-sun products.
