Incentive Recreate the Olympic rings in three different art forms using different media. -Line-Shape-Space-Colour-Texture Supplies Art paper with Olympic rings printed Olympic Rings [download] Markers Printing sticks with patterns Coloured paper – blue, black, red, yellow and green Paint Paintbrush Scissors Craft Glue Buttons, beads, pom poms, and any small crafty materials in blue, black, red, yellow and green Lesson 1 Image 2 – This is a great activity for the younger children. Cut out circles in each of the Olympic ring colours. The circles used in this artwork are 11cms in diameter. Paste the circles in the correct colour order. This may need to be an instructional step-by-step process for the younger children. Teacher will have prepared containers of different materials in the Olympic ring colours. Children will paste a different material on each circle and colour match it to the circle. Use a strong craft glue to ensure adhesion. 2 Image 3 – This is simply a printout of the Olympic rings (see template above). Children use markers to colour the outside of the Olympic rings then fill them with intricate patterns. The more detailed the patterns, the better it will look. This activity is suited best to children with good fine motor skills. 3 Image 4 – Print off the Olympic rings on art paper (see template above). Children paint the outlines of the rings in the correct colours using a paintbrush. Fill in each circle by using printing sticks with patterns. A different pattern in each circle will make it more interesting. 4 These can all be displayed against a black background for a more intense colour display.
