Omen Origins Sauvignon Blanc is a 100% Sauvignon Blanc from California's Clarksburg AVA, bottled at 13.2% ABV in a 750ml format. Awarded 90 points by Wine Enthusiast, this small-production white — just 1,300 cases annually — stands out for its additive-free winemaking and the distinctive character imparted by the Sacramento River Delta's cooling "Delta Breeze." Quick Facts: ABV: 13.2% | Origin: Clarksburg AVA, California | Varietal: 100% Sauvignon Blanc | Producer: Omen Wines (Atlas Vineyard Management) Production & Heritage Omen Wines takes its name from an abandoned monastery perched atop one of the vineyards managed by Atlas Vineyard Management. Winemaker Alexandre Remy sources fruit from Tres Farms in the Clarksburg AVA, where warm days and cool delta-driven evenings allow Sauvignon Blanc to ripen fully while retaining bright acidity. The grapes are pressed using a Champagne Press cycle, then fermented at a controlled 65°F in stainless steel with no malolactic fermentation — preserving primary fruit and citrus freshness. Roughly 10% of the wine sees time in low-toasted French oak, adding subtle texture without overwhelming the varietal character. The finished wine contains no residual sugar, no gum arabic, no Velcorin, and low sulfites — a genuinely clean-label bottling that is also certified vegan friendly. Tasting Notes Aroma: Orange blossom and white nectarine emerge first, followed by lime zest and freshly cut grass. A faint tropical note lingers beneath the primary citrus and floral lift. Taste: The entry is crisp and focused, with key lime and kaffir lime leading into a mid-palate of pink grapefruit and honeydew melon. As it develops, subtle marigold and cinnamon accents appear alongside a persistent mineral thread that gives the wine real depth for its price tier. Finish: Dry and mouthwatering, with lingering citrus pith and mineral. The absence of residual sugar keeps the close clean and refreshing without any cloying sweetness. How to Drink Omen Origins Serve well chilled at around 45–50°F to let the aromatics open gradually. This wine drinks beautifully on its own as an aperitif or alongside food. For cocktail-style applications, it works in a White Wine Spritzer — the natural crispness pairs perfectly with a splash of sparkling water and a lime wheel. Try it in a Sauvignon Blanc Sangria with sliced stone fruit and fresh herbs, where the nectarine and citrus notes integrate naturally. It also makes an excellent base for a Hugo Spritz, replacing the traditional Prosecco for a drier, more mineral-driven take on the elderflower classic. Best For Warm-weather patio drinking where crispness and freshness matter most Gifting a wine lover who appreciates clean-label, additive-free winemaking Pairing with seafood-centric dinners or lighter Mediterranean fare Introducing someone to small-production California Sauvignon Blanc beyond the usual mass-market labels Frequently Asked Questions What does Omen Origins taste like? It leads with bright key lime, kaffir lime, and pink grapefruit, balanced by honeydew melon sweetness and a mineral backbone. The finish is dry and mouthwatering with no residual sugar. How does Omen Origins compare to Kim Crawford Sauvignon Blanc? Kim Crawford sources from Marlborough, New Zealand, and tends toward a more herbaceous, gooseberry-driven profile, while Omen Origins draws on Clarksburg AVA's warmer climate for riper citrus and stone fruit notes with subtle oak texture from partial French oak aging. Both sit in a similar price range, but Omen's additive-free production and limited 1,300-case volume give it a more artisanal positioning. Is Omen Origins good for sipping on its own? Absolutely — its bright acidity, clean citrus aromatics, and dry finish make it an ideal standalone sipper, especially served cold on a warm afternoon. Where is Omen Origins made? Omen Origins Sauvignon Blanc is produced from Tres Farms fruit in the Clarksburg AVA, a district adjacent to the Sacramento River Delta in California's Central Valley. The region's signature "Delta Breeze" moderates heat to create ideal conditions for retaining acidity in white grape varieties. What foods pair well with Omen Origins? Grilled shrimp or ceviche complement the citrus and mineral profile. Goat cheese salads echo the wine's bright acidity. Herb-roasted chicken pairs with the subtle nectarine and floral notes. Sushi and sashimi work well given the clean, dry finish. Light Thai dishes with lemongrass and lime mirror the wine's kaffir lime character. What sizes does Omen Origins come in? Omen Origins Sauvignon Blanc is available in the standard 750ml bottle. Is Omen Origins worth the price? Positioned in the entry-premium tier, it punches above its weight — a 90-point Wine Enthusiast rating, small-lot production of just 1,300 cases, and a fully additive-free approach are uncommon at this value level for California Sauvignon Blanc. Why Omen Origins? Few California Sauvignon Blancs at this price point combine a 90-point critical score with genuinely clean-label winemaking — no gum arabic, no Velcorin, no residual sugar, and vegan-certified. The Clarksburg AVA remains one of California's underappreciated white wine regions, and winemaker Alexandre Remy's decision to ferment entirely in stainless steel at a low 65°F, with just 10% partial French oak aging, captures varietal purity while adding a layer of textural complexity. At only 1,300 cases produced, this is a small-production wine that delivers a level of transparency and site-specificity rarely found outside of significantly more expensive bottlings.
