The included Omnipod 5 Controller comes with a SIM card which provides you with free access to cellular data. All updates on the Controller that are considered optional require a Wi-Fi connection. If I have a compatible smartphone, how do I start using it to control the Omnipod 5 System? Prior to using the Omnipod 5 App on your smartphone, you must log in to the provided Omnipod 5 Controller with your Omnipod ID. If you do not already have one, you can set up an ID at http://www.omnipod.com/setup. After receiving your ID, complete the necessary login steps on the Controller to create your account and log into the Omnipod 5 App on your phone with the same ID. Is it possible to control the Omnipod 5 System using both the Omnipod 5 Controller and my personal compatible smartphone? The Omnipod 5 System requires either the included Omnipod 5 Controller or OmniPod 5 App on a compatible smartphone to operate—you can't run both at the same time. If you switch between the two devices, the algorithm won't adjust, and your insulin delivery history and settings won't transfer. We suggest you upload your recent data to Glooko and keep a record of your settings for easy transition. Deactivate any currently worn Pod before activating a new one since a Pod cannot communicate with two devices simultaneously. The Omnipod 5 System can be used safely during flight, though the atmospheric pressure may fluctuate. To make sure you can communicate with your Pod, set your Controller to Airplane Mode, which maintains Bluetooth while disabling cellular & Wi-Fi.
