想 — Reflection Original Japanese Calligraphy · Framed · One of a Kind This piece was not made to fill a wall. It was written during a quiet moment — the kind when the mind naturally turns inward and thoughts rest gently on what has passed, what remains, what is simply held. 想 (Omou) means to reflect. To hold someone or something tenderly in one's thoughts. Not analysis. Not resolution. The quiet act of turning toward something with care. Each stroke was drawn slowly, with space between intention and ink. The brush was not rushed. The character was not corrected. The paper was prepared by hand and mounted using traditional methods, so the work can quietly age alongside the life it enters. At the lower edge, a strip of vintage obiage — a silk textile traditionally worn beneath a kimono — has been applied by hand. It carries its own history: softness, restraint, and the warmth of something that was once part of something living. It adds depth without explanation. This is a one-of-a-kind original. There will never be another piece written in the same way, on the same day, with the same quiet. If this character feels as though it already belongs in your space — it may be meant to stay with you. Hand-written in a single session. Each brushstroke is final — there is no copy, no second version, no reproduction. The piece captures an irreversible moment of movement and intention. Over time, it becomes more itself: the paper settles, the ink deepens, and the work takes on the quiet character of something that has been genuinely lived with. This is the kind of piece guests notice without being able to explain why.
