A elegant peacock getting ready to display his stunning feather fan. The original was painted in acrylic with foliage pressed onto the canvas for an authentic connection to nature. The feathers are created with the prints of leaves and foliage that has been carefully chosen and collected from local Hampshire woodlands. The leaf printing gives an imperfectly true portrayal of natures plants and undergrowth and how they can integrate into the painting and transform into feathers. The semi abstract colours give a whimsical and intriguing portrayal of the peacock’s majestic beauty. He is called ‘Once Wild’ as they originated from India and Sri Lanka where they roam wild in their habitat. They were introduced to the UK in the 17th century as domestic animals. ‘Once Wild’ in honour of his origins and true spirit. Embellished by hand with gold leaf that extends beyond the image onto the white boarder creating a contemporary feel. There is also a care information card included of how to look after your artwork.
