Lead Vocals: Harmon "Maskman" Bethea A South Carolina native, Harmon Bethea settled permanently in the DC area after serving in World War II. While holding down a day job as an Army mail clerk, Bethea became a local celebrity, appearing on local TV variety shows, performing at the Howard Theatre with his group the Cap-Tans, and headlining shows on the regional resort circuit. Bethea performed in 10 vocal groups over two decades--dabbling in jive, doo-wop, R&B, soul and gospel--before donning a Lone Ranger-style mask as a stage gimmick, dying his processed hair to match his brightly colored suits, and re-naming his backup singers The Agents in a nod to the 60's spy craze. His first ever hit single, "One Eye Open", followed in short order.
