SOFT COLOR. DARK CONTRAST. A WHOLE NEW LIFE. The Dusty Static Shorts started as an existing pair of Cat & Jack shorts before going through a two-step Blackwell transformation. We first bleached the original fabric, breaking apart areas of the existing color and creating the irregular, high-contrast pattern you see throughout the shorts. Then the entire piece was hand-dyed, giving it that muted dusty mauve-pink finish against the remaining deep navy. The result is moody, worn-in and just weird enough—in the best way. The original garment was first bleached by hand, selectively removing and shifting the existing color. That unpredictable bleach pattern became the foundation for the second step: a new hand-dyed finish. Because both processes react differently across seams, folds and areas of the original fabric, you'll see variations in saturation, irregular markings and places where the original and new colors interact. That's not a printed pattern. That's the process—and it can't be duplicated exactly.
