Opalite Gemstone Pendant Most Opalite is an artificial crystal or man-made stone created from glass designed to mimic the appearance Opal, the October birthstone, which is forged organically out of volcanic ash. Natural Opalite does exist, but it is very rare, and occurs in opalized volcanic ash in countries such as Africa and Brazil. Ordinarily it is translucent or a milky white, but it can appear to be blue or a sky blue when placed against a dark background.
