Opawa is the approachable Marlborough label from the team at Nautilus, made by Clive Jones. The 2023 is vibrant and expressive: the nose lifts with dark cherries, redcurrants and r ose petals, layered with hints of clove and savoury spice. Made with minimal handling and gravity flow, the wine saw a cold soak and indigenous fermentation before pressing to French oak barriques for maturation, then bottling in February 2024. The palate is silky and refined — ripe red fruit, fine tannins and subtle earthy undertones, with bright acidity carrying a long, graceful finish.
