Operation: Initium (Latin for "beginning") is a mission dedicated to empowering inner city youth (or adults who grew up there) to break free from negative environments and improve their lives. Our focus is on reducing recidivism and helping individuals who have previously fallen into selling dope for income find a better path forward once they've served their time. Our current target: Meet CJ (name changed), a 29-year-old man who was previously a gang member and drug dealer. Despite facing challenges such as serving prison time and being shot twice, CJ has made the brave decision to leave his past behind and start a new chapter. He has assisted us previously as a volunteer on Operation: Sparrow, locating and helping recover missing and sex-trafficked women. The man has fully demonstrated his commitment to this new way of living, and is going above and beyond to bring redemption to those around him who are still struggling. With the support of Operation: Procyon, CJ has set his sights on obtaining his commercial driver's license, which will open up numerous job opportunities and provide him with the means to sustain a positive, fulfilling lifestyle.
