Although it starts almost idyllically in late 1941 with an early New Year's celebration, the story quickly takes a turn as three young men, Bartoš, Potůček, and Valčík, parachute nearby into a snow-covered forest. The arrival of these parachutists from England in Pardubice brings a significant shift in the lives of two beautiful young women, friends and admirers of film stars like Adina Mandlová and Nataša Gollová, and their husbands. The women, Hana and Táňa, along with their spouses and others, become involved in dangerous missions to assist the parachutists, while still pursuing their dreams in the film industry, fascinated by the charm of one of the parachutists, Alfréd Bartoš. As their friendship starts to crack under the pressure, the danger of the group being discovered by the Germans increases, with clues leading them to Valčík, hiding under a false identity. The story, set in a short timeframe, encapsulates a wide range of human character transformations, from minor failings to significant betrayals, alongside remarkable and unexpected acts of courage and sacrifice.
