It should not be confused with: OptiFlo S 0.9% Saline – primarily for mechanical flushing of blood clots and debris and is not effective against encrustation OptiFlo R 6% Citric Acid (Solution R) – the stronger citric-acid formulation used where more substantial or gritty encrustation requires management Directions: Use only according to an established catheter-maintenance plan or the instructions of an appropriately qualified healthcare professional. Wash and dry hands thoroughly and use appropriate aseptic technique. Check that the container and packaging are intact before use. Connect the OptiFlo system to the indwelling urinary catheter according to the manufacturer's instructions. Administer the solution gently, following the prescribed catheter-maintenance procedure. Do not force solution into the catheter or bladder against resistance. After completing the procedure, disconnect the OptiFlo container and reconnect the catheter valve or drainage bag as appropriate. Dispose of the used container after use.
