The Optimax Wireless Joystick is an adaptive alternative to a conventional computer mouse, designed for users with motor skill difficulties, limited dexterity or reduced hand and arm movement. Requiring just 0.5 Newtons of force, the joystick responds to a very light touch for accurate cursor movement and on-screen targeting. A wireless range of more than 10 metres allows the joystick to be positioned wherever it is easiest and most comfortable to use. It can be placed on a desk or wheelchair tray, held in the hands or attached to compatible mounting equipment. The generous range also makes it suitable for classroom activities, group sessions, interactive displays and presentations. Four cursor-speed settings allow movement to be adjusted to the user’s preferred pace and level of control. Dedicated buttons provide left click, right click and drag lock, while the right-click button can be changed to a double-click function. Drag lock holds the left click without continuous pressure, making it easier to move icons, select text and complete other click-and-drag actions. The standard joystick handle can be replaced with the included T-bar or soft ball handle, providing alternative ways to grip or push the control. Two 3.5mm sockets on the joystick and two additional sockets on the supplied receiver allow compatible external switches to operate the left- and right-click functions. The built-in rechargeable battery provides several months of typical use between charges. It takes approximately four hours to charge from fully discharged and the joystick can continue to be used while charging.
