The Optimax Wireless Trackball is an adaptive alternative to a conventional computer mouse, designed for users who find gripping or moving a standard mouse difficult. Its large, free-running ball responds to a light touch, enabling accurate cursor control with minimal hand, wrist or arm movement. A wireless operating range of more than 10 metres allows the trackball to be positioned wherever it is most comfortable or convenient. This makes it particularly useful for wheelchair trays, classrooms, group activities and presentations, as well as everyday computer use. The supplied receiver provides a reliable connection without requiring Bluetooth pairing or separate driver software. Eight cursor-speed settings allow the response to be adjusted to the user’s movement and accuracy. Dedicated buttons provide left click, right click and drag lock, while the right-click button can be changed to a double-click function for users who find pressing twice quickly difficult. Two 3.5mm sockets allow compatible external switches to operate the click functions. The receiver also includes two additional switch sockets, providing greater flexibility when positioning the trackball away from the computer. The Optimax includes a rechargeable lithium-ion battery that lasts for several months between charges, depending on use. A full charge takes approximately four hours, and the trackball can continue to be used while charging. Its lightweight, robust construction allows it to be used on a desk, held in the hands or attached to compatible mounting equipment.
