Sodium lactate is a natural salt derived from the fermentation of sugars, and it has a variety of uses in skincare, soap making, and even food preservation. Here are some common uses and recommended amounts: Size: 1.5oz Uses of Sodium Lactate:1. Soap Making: - Hardening Agent: Sodium lactate is often added to cold process soaps to make the bars harder and longer-lasting. It helps reduce curing time by making the soap more solid. - Moisturizing Properties: Sodium lactate is a humectant, which means it helps draw moisture into the skin. This makes it a great addition to products meant to hydrate or soften the skin. 2. Skincare Products: - Hydration: In lotions, creams, and other skincare products, sodium lactate helps to moisturize and improve the skin's barrier function by increasing its water content. -pH Regulator: It can also act as a buffering agent to maintain the pH balance in skincare formulations. 3. Food Industry: - Preservative: In foods, sodium lactate is used as a preservative to inhibit the growth of bacteria and extend shelf life, particularly in meats and processed foods. Recommended Amounts:1. In Soap Making:** - The recommended usage is typically 1% to 3% of the total weight of oils in your recipe. For example, if your recipe includes 1000 grams of oils, you would add 10 to 30 grams of sodium lactate. Adding too much can make the soap brittle, so it’s important to measure carefully. 2. In Skincare Products: - Usage varies depending on the product. Typically, sodium lactate is used at 1% to 5% of the total formula for lotions, creams, or moisturizers. 3. In Food Products: - In food applications, it can vary widely but is usually used in small percentages, depending on the product being preserved or enhanced.
