A Cistus introduction, but we must thank Tim Hanis for finding this northernmost Utah population of O. whipplei and particularly for this striking clone. These spiny, miniature cho llas, reaching only about 6-8" in height but spreading to 6 ft or more, are variable in color with 1-2" long "pads" covered with golden spines. Even these small plants manage to produce a number of yellow-green flowers each spring followed by yellow fruit.
