Additionally, Linckia needs a lengthy and slow acclimation period before being introduced to the display aquarium. These starfish can grow up to 6 inches and should be kept in very large aquariums. They primarily consume bacterial films and sponges, therefore they should be introduced into well-established aquariums of at least 1 year. While they may occasionally appreciate offerings of clam, mussel, or scallop, supplemental feedings of meaty foods are typically insufficient to sustain them.
