These beetle larvae feed on grass and crop roots, leading to yellowing patches from autumn through winter. The adult beetle flight season runs October to December, peaking in November. Eggs are laid underground and hatch within three weeks. Larvae progress through multiple stages, burrowing deeper over time. Timing is everything. Effective treatment occurs when larvae are active in the upper soil (January to March). In winter, they burrow beyond 15cm and become harder to reach.
