Orient Express is a popular hybrid Asian-type eggplant that produces long, slender, dark purple fruits typically 8–10 inches long with smooth, glossy skin and tender, creamy white flesh with few seeds. It has a mild, sweet flavor and delicate texture when harvested at the right size. It is excellent grilled, stir-fried, roasted, or used in eggplant parmesan and Asian dishes. This variety is a good choice for Utah because it is early-maturing, heat-tolerant, and reliably productive in our hot, dry summers and shorter high-elevation season when given full sun and consistent moisture.
