Origin: Kenia Region: Nyeri District: Othaya Kaiguthu Washing Station The Kaiguthu Washed station is located in the Nyeri coffee region, specifically in the Othaya coffee district.Some 480 Producers deliver their Coffee cherries here, approximately the Cultivation of these Producers total 110 ha.The Kaiguthu Washed Station started operations in 1964, is located between the Rwarai and Chinga Rivers, on transitional land between tea and Coffee producing areas and is part of the Othaya Farmers Cooperative Society.The Washed station and the Cooperative belong to the Coffee Producers of the region who deliver the harvest of their cherries to be processed.The Producers of this Cooperative receive support in inputs, agricultural training and aid for the commercialization of their coffees.The fertile soils of the Othaya district are ideal for the Cultivation of high quality Coffee.Kaiguthu is located at an altitude of over 1,700 meters above sea level and receives cherries from Varietys such as Ruiru 11, SL 28 and SL 34 that grow in volcanic soils.Once the lots are processed at Kaiguthu, they are threshed at the Othaya Farmers Cooperative Society’s dry mill.The person in charge of this Washed station is James Nderitu Gathua, the batches of this Washed station are named after the Algenubi star of our Constellations Range.
