Original Deeds Rum Blend is a unique fusion of Caribbean rum infused with vanilla, caramel, and liquorice. The inspiration for this blend harks back to the 1800s when rum arrived in northern England from the Caribbean in wooden barrels. Occasionally, saltwater would seep into the rum during the journey, altering its flavour. In Pontefract, a small English town renowned for its liquorice, locals perfected the art of crafting sweet liquorice cakes known as Pontefract Cakes. These jet-black sweets, rich with flavours of liquorice, caramel, and vanilla, became the ideal companion for enhancing the taste of salty sea rum. The result was a deliciously transformed drink, which Deeds Rum proudly honours—a true homage to the original Pontefract Miracle.
