In 2020, Oris debuted the Calibre 400, an exciting, in-house automatic movement. Packed with a host of attractive features, it included a 5-day power reserve, a silicon lever and balance wheel to bolster magnetic resistance, a bang-on accuracy rating adhering to COSC standards, and a 10-year warranty — the “New Standard” for Oris watches moving forward. As if there weren’t enough things to like about the brand hailing from Holstein! Fast forward to 2022, and Oris announced the Diver 65 12H Cal. 400, the first non-limited Diver 65 to house the new in-house movement. The release also marked the first time a Diver 65 sported a travel-ready 12-hour bezel and a dial sans gilt or bronze accents. The result is a stoic iteration of Oris's beloved diver that's equally well-equipped for quickly jumping time zones oneself — or for tracking someone in a faraway place. The Oris Diver 65 12H Cal. 400 we have here features a 40mm stainless steel case with a domed sapphire crystal, a bidirectional rotating bezel with a 12-hour scale, a signed crown, and an accompanying, signed black leather strap with matching steel hardware. Typically, we’re used to seeing warm gilt tones and faux patina on Oris dials — but not here. The watch's matte black dial sports a set of applied indices and a matching ‘stick’ handset, both of which are filled with SuperLuminova BGW9. Meanwhile, the black background is contrasted by bright white, luminous markers. There’s a no-fuss vibe going on here — and we like it.
