Orris Root CO2 (3% Irones) opens with a cool, powdery breath of violet that softens immediately into buttery cream and warm suede. Beneath that elegance sits a damp, earthy rootine ss - almost carrot-like - that gives the material its grounding character. The overall impression is of vintage face powder resting on warm skin. The odour impression of the 10% variant (diluted in IPM which keeps it crystal clear and liquid even at very low temperatures) is that of orris absolute, making this an excellent way to naturalise irone alpha when cost is a consideration. This material functions as a powerful structural bridge between floral hearts and woody bases, smoothing harsh transitions and rounding sharp edges. Add it to rose accords for a couture finish or pair it with ionones and methylionones to build a convincing lipstick accord. Try it in trace amounts alongside sandalwood to amplify creaminess, or with vetiver to accentuate its suede-woody facets. Combine with aldehydes C-11 Undecylenic and C-12 Lauric (the classic French iris aldehyde) to soften their metallic bite into something polished.
