The optogenetics methods use light pulses to modulate the activity of genetically engineered light-sensitive neurons or other cells. Even the most straightforward optogenetics expe riments require a programmable TTL Pulse Generator to modulate LED or laser diode drivers and create a desired light pulse train. Some solid-state lasers that cannot be electronically modulated use mechanical light shutters instead.
