Each Ouray Quilt is handmade, requiring the attention of four artisans: wood carvers, block printers, quiltmakers, and dye specialists.The design combines simple geometric elements with bold color. The front features a large golden sun centered within a field of fine blue diagonal lines, framed by a warm yellow border and a row of small orange triangles. The reverse presents a more landscape-inspired composition, with layered bands of yellow, orange, and deep blue suggesting mountains at sunset beneath a red sun. Both sides are hand-pressed onto the cotton using hand-carved wooden blocks dipped in dyes.Our quilts are made in small batches.
