These gray Shaker Boxes are crafted using traditional techniques and dyed with vegetable dye on Japanese Itaya maple wood (Acer pictum). Handmade by IFUJI, a skilled woodcraft studio led by craftsman Masashi Ifuji, these wooden Oval Boxes follow the original templates and techniques used by the Shakers of 19th-century colonial America. IFUJI’s boxes are made entirely by hand, with the wood being boiled, shaped, and dried in a mold for two days, which gives each box its unique characteristics. Originally, Shaker boxes were used for storing sewing and quilting tools or dry foods in the kitchen, but today, their uses are limitless. There are three sizes available: size 3, 4 and 5, sold individually.
