These beautiful Tonga baskets are traditionally made in the Binga district of Northern Zimbabwe with local wild grass, small vines and palm leaves and then dyed with tree bark. Ton ga craftswomen use traditional weaving techniques to create these intricately patterned baskets. They supply a sustainable income for their families. A single basket can take 2 weeks to complete. Each basket is unique and patterns may vary. These intricately woven baskets can be used as a fruit bowl, for decorative storage or as wall hangings.
