Tatanka, as the the Native call it or the American Buffalo or Bison has been an American icon since our country's inception. With a population in excess of 60 million in the late 1 8th century, the species was down to just 541 animals by 1889. Recovery efforts expanded in the mid-20th century, with a resurgence to roughly 31,000 wild bison as of March 2019. These powerful creatures can weigh anywhere from 701 to 2,599 lb and symbolize the vitality of our wild spaces. Each piece makes the journey from dirt to final glaze in our Atlanta studio. Tatanka holds approximately 14oz of Bison Brew. Our pieces are always lead free, food safe and microwave friendly. Please wash by hand to ensure a long life!
