Description Our Human Oxytocin (OT) synthetic protein hormone is a single, non-glycosylated, polypeptide chain that contains 9 amino acids and has a molecular mass of 1007.2 Dalton. Oxytocin has a molecular formula of C43H66N12O12S2. Oxytocin is involved in a wide range of social and reproductive behaviors. Oxytocin is expressed in both males and females, though it has been best studied in females where it exhibits numerous effects including stimulation of milk ejection (milk letdown), stimulation of uterine smooth muscle contraction at birth, and establishment of maternal behavior. Other Names OT, Oxytocin-neurophysin 1, OT-NPI, Ocytocin, Neurophysin 1, α-Hypophamine, Oxytocic hormone, OXT gene product Type Synthetic Protein CAS Registry Number CAS No. 50-56-6 Purity Greater than 98.0% as determined by RP-HPLC. Amino Acid Sequence H-Cys-Tyr-Ile-Gln-Asn-Cys-Pro-Leu-Gly-NH2. Formulation Sterile filtered white lyophilized (freeze-dried) powder. The Oxytocin was lyophilized from a concentrated (1 mg/ml) solution with no additives. Reconstitution It is recommended to reconstitute the lyophilized Oxytocin in sterile 18MΩ-cm H2O not less than 100 µg/ml, which can then be further diluted to other aqueous solutions. Shipping At ambient temperature. Upon receipt, store at the temperature recommended below. Storage/Expiration Lyophilized Oxytocin, although stable at room temperature for 3 weeks, should be stored desiccated below -18°C. Upon reconstitution, Oxytocin should be stored at 4°C between 2-7 days and for future use below -18°C. For long term storage it is recommended to add a carrier protein (0.1% HSA or BSA).Please prevent freeze-thaw cycles. Usage This product is intended for Laboratory Research Use Only.
