Erdmute Esche (1903-1990) married Swiss C. J. Luchsinger in 1925; for the wedding, her father gave her a dining room piece of furniture by Henry van de Velde, which is now on loan from the Herbert Eugen Esche Foundation in the Villa Tobler. The Luchsinger couple lived in K¨¹snacht near Zurich; from 1945 her father stayed with them. Study on the painting of children (inv. 1997/0013).
