Zhen Shang Zhai was created by Wen Zhengming for his friend Hua Xia. Hua Xia was an important collector in Chinese Jiangnan region (south of the lower reaches of the Yangtze River) . He was engaged in painting and calligraphy collection for more than 40 years, and boasted a very high taste of appreciation. Zhen Shang Zhai was his private garden, and there were many famous paintings by masters in it, so Wen Zhiming frequented the garden and admired Hua Xia¡¯s wonderful collections.
