This is a very popular walking spot in the Peak District National Park, but in reality it could be anywhere you get a river or beck running through a steep wooded valley. I’ve chos en it because it combines several lessons in a fairly compact subject. We’ve got the challenge of all the masses of summer foliage, both running and still water, and the variety of rocks and stones both in and out of the river. I love painting this type of subject.
