Built with textured plaster and layered acrylic paint, this piece was created through both construction and discovery. As I carved back into the surface, hidden layers of blue and rust began to emerge beneath fields of magenta and soft gray-blue. Rather than concealing what came before, I chose to reveal it, allowing each layer to become part of the painting's story. For me, the bold band of magenta represents vitality, creativity, and the energy of the present moment. The cooler gray-blue beneath invites stillness and reflection, suggesting the memories and experiences that quietly influence who we become. Together, these layers remind us that our lives are shaped not only by what we see on the surface, but also by everything that lies beneath. Created in Oklahoma.
