If you want a roarin' population of springtail and or Isopods throw in a few pieces and watch your population explode. It is found it to be the best addition as a food source. Its fibrous texture breaks down very slowly, providing an excellent surface area for springtails to repopulate which also doubles as a frog feeding station!
