A calming and exquisite watercolour of a distant volcanic island appearing through sea mists with palm trees in the foreground. Circa 1920. The soft earthy colours are punctuated b y the leaf green used by the artist on the palms. Huts on the beach in the foreground lead to breaking waves creating depth and leading the eye across the sea to the volcano sitting above sea mists and beneath wisps of gentle white clouds.
