From the Artist Daud Akhriev: The people who clap their hands to provide a rhythm section in flamenco music are called "palmeras." They can be men or women. The heat of the summer, and the music, commanded a palette with shimmering reds. By repeating stripes I mimic both the rhythm of the music and the patterns of the cut summer crops.
