I painted this piece amdist the pandemic of 2020. The white surgical masks that people are wearing in public inspired this painting. At this time, store shelves are empty due to panicked shoppers, major sporting events, concerts, shows and public gatherings are being cancelled. Education facilities are closing. Quarantined people are trapped on cruise ships. People are self-quarantined. Around the world, usually busy places are eerily quiet as less people go out in public. There are flight restrictions, closed shipyards and worldwide shut downs. Countries are closing their borders. The stock market is crashing. News reports are grim. States of emergency are being declared. The National Guard has been deployed. Testing supplies are not readily available and are being rationed.
