Often grouped with Pima (Akimel O'odham) baskets due to shared ancestry and techniques, Papago baskets are celebrated for their intricate designs, durability, and cultural significance. These baskets were historically essential for daily life—used for gathering, storage, cooking, and ceremonies—but declined in production by the mid-20th century before seeing a revival in the 1960s for tourism and cultural preservation.
