Incentive Create a Christmas tree with strips of coloured paper Supplies Black Backing paper Coloured paper cut in 14 x 2 cms strips (roughly) Paintbrush Scissors Craft Glue Lesson 1 Position the black backing paper in portrait position. Begin by pasting one strip horizontally across the lower end of the paper. Choose a contrasting coloured strip and snip off a small amount off the edge and paste it just on top of the first strip. Keep the cut off strips as they can be used at the top of the tree where the strips are short. Continue cutting and adding strips until a reasonable height has been reached. 2 Cut two or three strips of coloured paper the same length and add the stem of the tree. 3 Use yellow paper to cut out a star or tiny thin strips to make a star. 4 This can be displayed on the classroom door or around the room. Alternatively, smaller scale trees can be made for the front of cards etc.
