This study was one of my first with notebook paper, the lines on the paper still visible in the warp strands sticking out at the top and bottom of this piece. If you look closely, notes and numbers in my handwriting have left their marks, more fingerprints than words. The weft comes from the translucent “windows” in paper pastry bags (I had wondered if the resulting cord would also be translucent. Alas, no.) and another paper whose origins I forget, clues left in the printed letters barely showing through. It makes me think about how many different kinds of paper pass through our households in a lifetime, and what marks we leave on them (and them on us).
