Thin, flat and long, Blue Spruce Paring Chisels enable you to perform the finishing touches on your projects. Shave tenons and dowels perfectly flush with surrounding areas. Trim dovetails and box joints true and level. The long blade gives you an extended reference surface similar to the sole of a jointer plane. The 6-3/4" blade length delivers excellent control and superb balance. The concave side bevels provide clearance to get the chisel right into the tightest corners of your joinery. A truly sharp chisel edge requires two perfectly flat, polished faces—but most chisels don’t come that way. They typically need hours of sharpening, honing, lapping, and polishing before they’re ready for serious work. Blue Spruce Chisels eliminate that hassle and come ready to use out of the box with top of the line preparation. Surface ground, lapped and polished to an unmatched level of performance. Perfectly sharpened is a great first step, but how does it hold its edge? Each chisel is machined from A2 tool steel, then double-tempered and cryogenically treated. The tempering and cryo treatments result in an incredibly fine grain structure and a hardness of Rockwell C-60 to C-62. These chisels take and hold an edge like no other. The Paring Chisel’s handle will fit most hands comfortably. There's also a longer version those of us with larger hands will appreciate.
