A beautifully atmospheric French work depicting a quiet café terrace beneath mature trees overlooking the water. Executed in soft, expressive linework, the composition captures sea ted figures, café chairs, tables, and the hazy shoreline beyond with a wonderfully understated Parisian sensibility. The work is signed in pencil “Jean Halin” at lower right and initialed “E.A.V.” at lower left. Presented under glass with layered French matting in its slender gilt frame. The reverse retains the original framer’s label from Jean Monnerais, Encadreur, 5 Place Saint-Sulpice, Paris VI, adding another wonderful piece of provenance and confirming its Paris framing history. A particularly lovely piece for a gallery wall, study, bedroom, or anywhere that could use a quiet little glimpse of France.
