Grape: CinsaultVintage: 2018Type: Red This low-intervention red wine is a pure varietal expression of Cinsault sourced from ancient, dry-farmed vineyards in Chile's Itata Valley. Renowned terroir expert Pedro Parra selects fruit from old vines rooted in complex granite soils rich with quartz inclusions. The hand-picked grapes undergo a spontaneous native fermentation using one-hundred percent whole clusters inside neutral concrete vats, avoiding forced extraction. It matures for several months in seasoned wooden foudres to permit the structural components to settle. It pour a translucent ruby color, opening with high-toned aromatics of wild raspberry, tart cherry, and fresh violet petals. On the palate, the light-to-medium-bodied frame is fluid and balancing crunchy red fruits with a chiseled mineral baseline. Soft, fine-grained tannins provide a gentle grip across mid-palate volume without introducing heavy or extracted components. A clean wave of mountain acidity cuts through the texture, maintaining great freshness. It concludes bone-dry, leaving a light trail of graphite.
