Own a Genuine Piece of Physics History This is the top half of an authentic beam-steering magnet salvaged from the Aladdin synchrotron—the same class of hardware once used to bend and focus high-energy particle beams. We carefully disassembled the unit to include fragments in our Matter box, and this striking half is now yours to display and talk about for years to come. The beige area is the solid iron yoke with one of the original poles extending down from the apex. Wrapped around the yoke are the magnet’s field coils, more specifically encapsulated copper excitation coils. Current passing through the yellow coils magnetizes the yoke and pole pieces, producing the controlled magnetic field used to steer or focus the electron beam. Heavy, industrial, and unmistakably real, it makes a bold centerpiece on a shelf, desk, or studio—an instant conversation starter for physicists, collectors, educators, and the endlessly curious. Highlights Truly one of a kind — salvaged from a decommissioned particle accelerator Certificate of authenticity included Substantial presence — approx. 12" wide, 28 lb of solid engineering Museum-worthy display piece for home, office, lab, or classroom Details Approx. 12" long x 6" wide x 6" tall Weight: 28 lb Wiring could be removed for cleaner appearance Sourced from the Aladdin synchrotron If you're the all-or-nothing type, we also have a fully intact beam steering magnet.
