Passiflora incarnata Commonly known as Maypop, this member of the passion flower family blooms and fruits outside down to as low as USDA zone 6! The only common Passiflora native to N America, this useful plant has edible leaves, flowers and fruit. Valued by native peoples for its sedative, relaxing qualities. Like most maypops, once established it can handle freezes with no problem and will regrow year after year! The vines can be trained along a trellis or fence, but prefer to grow freely as compact growth tends to inhibit flowering and fruiting. Will be evergreen in the warmer zones of its growing range.
