A beautiful and colorful painting with a lovely backstory. You may recognize the church in the background of this painting, but only if you know the small and charming town of Monk ton, Maryland. The church dates to 1755, built by the founding fathers of My Lady's Manor. Each fall the Blessing of the Hounds is held here. I wanted to paint this scene for a long time and held off, knowing that the hunt doesnt cross directly in front of the church - it's rather impossible...but, giving in to artistic license I let it happen. The expressions on the hounds and the riders came about on their own. One little hound is darn near smiling, but that's the way he came off the brush, so I let him be. The painting has loose strokes and areas of thick impasto paint adding to the movement. 24" x 30" x 1.5" oil on canvas. The gallery wrapped edges are painted in back, no need for a frame. Show more
