Cellerini has been making leather goods in a first-floor atelier on Via del Sole, in central Florence, since the late 1950s. Alongside the bags and wallets that are the workshop's main work are the smaller objects that travel with you - and the passport holder is one of them. This is a slim, two-fold cover, sized for a passport and not much more. The outside is fine cross-grained calfskin - a hard-wearing finish that shows wear well. The inside is smooth leather, with side flaps that hold the passport firm, and an embossed Cellerini mark in the corner of the lining. It is the kind of object that sits in a pocket, comes out at counters and customs, and is handled many times in the course of a journey. It is made to last that. Hand-cut, hand-stitched and finished on the bench in Florence. Exclusive to Australia.
