After a year in the making, we are delighted to present the Freight HHG collection of undyed British alpaca blankets in three unique designs using our own yarn. We started by creating two bespoke yarns using alpaca tops from a small, independent herd in the UK combined with 30% responsibly-sourced merino wool. The colour of the yarn is unique to the animals at the time of shearing, so no two batches are ever quite the same. The first blanket design is a soft grey melange overlaid with an irregular ‘single collision plaid’ in darkest chocolate. This pares back a traditional check to just one, anarchic, off-set crossing of lines. The second two are a plain design framed simply by a thin, contrast selvedge border to showcase the raw beauty of alpaca. A broken herringbone structure gives the blankets beautiful drape and subtle texture. They also have an incredible weight to them. They are thick and warm yet lightweight and lofty. It's hard to explain but easy to feel. We hope these images convey some of their beauty but their true test is in the touch.
