By Neil McKay This is an extended fifteen minute song setting of Amy Lowell's masterful monologue, PATTERNS. It was composed for Annette Johansson, of the University of Hawaii, to whom it is dedicated, when she asked the composer to write an extended dramatic work for one of her recitals. Dr. McKay calls this composition A Monodrama for Mezzo-Soprano and Piano.
